Beyoncé’s groundbreaking visual album Lemonade premiered on HBO this past Saturday and has inspired countless articles on the cultural, social and political impact of the stunning piece of work. It also just got the best parody treatment we could think of.
Late Late host James Corden shows off his comedic genius by walking the thin line of parodying Lemonade, in this case Lemonjames, without taking away from the beauty of the original film. Instead, Corden makes himself the butt of every joke, while also doing what we all wish we could do every day – pretend to be Beyonce.
Corden dons a (terrifying) cornrow wig, takes a bat to TVs in a flowing yellow dress, refuses to do another Trump joke while sitting in a tub, then of course does a Trump joke, and gives his own recipe for making lemonade. The spot-on parody breaks down into titled sections like its predecessor, with sections called ‘Monologue’ and ‘Truth Bomb’. But Corden’s incredible ability to put his finger on the pulse of pop culture really shines with one line in particular.
